Preamble to Renée's Writings (start here)

June 9, 2022 Author: Renée

This website will eventually become a hub of information about all the things that pertain to and impact my work as a massage therapist. For now, I am starting at the best place I can think of: who I am, and why I do what I do.

I tell people all the time that we massage therapists are like snowflakes. We may all look the same (i.e. most people have one specific set of images that come to mind when they hear the word "massage"), but we are each unique. Even when we provide the same services, use the same techniques, or serve the same populations, the way in which we approach this work is as unique and individual as the person who is doing the work.

This work that I do is different from that of anyone else I know.

This work that I do is different from that of anyone else I know. As with all of us, my work is informed by my own unique set of life circumstances, passions, trainings, and opportunities. I know very well that I am not the right massage therapist for everyone, nor is every client right for me. That each client feels safe, secure, and hopeful for their own version of "progress" (whatever those things look like to them) every time they walk in my door is of the utmost importance to me.

As this blog grows, I will be updating posts with links to other relevant posts, internal site pages, and/or outside resources over time. Because these updates will affect the order of the blog posts, I won't be including "newer" or "older" links in them but you will always be able to return to the main blog page (entitled "Renée's Writings") via the navigation menu or among the "quick links" that I will include at the side of each post.

For the moment, you have two choices in how to begin reading my blog: You can start reading Part 1 of my story here, or you can start with Part 3, which is a list of some of my demographics (which, while presented in a less emotional manner, are nevertheless vitally important to "who I am and why I do what I do").

As always, I am happy to respond to any questions or comments you may have, which you may send through my contact page.
